Mojca M. Plesničar
I am a research associate at the Institute of Criminology in Ljubljana and an associate professor in Criminology and Criminal Procedure at the University of Ljubljana. I research punishment and penal decision-making, but also have a special focus on specific types of crimes and offenders, especially vulnerable groups. I have acted as Council of Europe appointed expert in drafting Slovenia's Barnahus law (meant to prevent or reduce secondary trauma caused by criminal proceedings for children victims or witnesses of serious crime, especially sexual crimes). I am currently heading a Council of Europe led project aimed at reforming the Slovenian system of dealing with juvenile crime and young people in the crosshairs of offending. Moreover, I have focused on violent and sexual crimes in my previous research, including children as victims.
