Alexandre Surget
I am an associate professor in Neuroscience at the University of Tours and a member of UMR 1253 (IBrain). I have dedicated my research to the elucidation of the neurobiological mechanisms underlying stress integration, stress-related disorders and their treatments, focusing mostly on hippocampus. An important accomplishment of my previous research rests on unravelling the functional involvement of hippocampal neurogenesis in antidepressant effects and stress response. My current research aims at providing a mechanistic framework explaining population dynamics within the hippocampal formation, and how these circuits operate into larger systems to produce normal and pathological brain functions focusing mainly on stress effects and stress-related disorders, such as anxiety disorders, PTSD, Major.
